I think digitization has a huge impact on the way we work today and we work in the future especially in the field of engineering architecture and construction.
My name is Kai Oberste-Ufer - I'm a domakaba responsible for developing planning software for our customers and in this particular project openDBL I'm responsible for bringing us as a company and our expertise into the project.
openDBL to make it short is a EU funded large-scale project aiming at developing an open Digital logbook for a building.
So we are creating a platform where we bring all day kind of data sources together starting from BIM objects laser scanning artificial intelligence but also combining it with ontology's modern data-driven aspects and have a complete block book that can be used later on by the building owner and by different parties to operate the building more efficiently to get better buildings in the future.
When I heard the first time about openDBL and we as a domakaba were asked whether we have would like to be part in this in this project I see a lot of parallels to what we do internally.
So where we think about buildings must be more intelligent data must be more used and talking about an integration about different aspects of a building into one system that was the most interesting part of openDBL and that's why we said yes this is exactly what we want to do this is exactly in the direction we want to move on.
I think today one of the major issues we have with buildings is to optimize buildings there is a more and more upcoming need to be better, better in terms of energy, better in terms of how people feel of ecological footprint and this goal can only be achieved if we take into account a lot of data sources to really operate and make the building better.
Sustainability is a very important factor and especially open DBL can bring huge benefits here because we not only concentrate on individual aspects of sustainability saying this product is better or this this component is better we include the complete data set a footprint, a fingerprint of the building in terms of data into the account and optimizing the whole system.
This complete holistic view of the data simply makes it easier to make the right decision for modernizing existing buildings.
A CDE a common data environment is is kind of state of the art today to work collaboratively on projects and we take it with openDBL to the next level so we not only use this for planning but we use a common data approach here a common central database also for the operational part of the building to operate the building better.
I think this is the most added value that is not achievable by other existing Solutions currently available.
