Prerequisites:

The evaluation of risks and measure derived thereof are taken from dormakaba from its perspective as manufacturer of the products under the assumption that qualified advice and installation at the end user’s premises has been rendered. All information required to this aim are provided by dormakaba. The instruction manual must be handed over to the end user at commissioning.

Product
Door cylinders (double cylinder, single cylinder, thumbturn cylinder) of the types:

Swiss round cylinders 22mm according to EN1303:2005
EU Profile cylinders 17mm according to DIN18252:2006

The following information about lock cylinders are to be adhered to. Non-adherence relieves dormakaba of any liability claims.

Appropriate use
The lock cylinders named are manufactured for use in door locks. They are intended for users highly motivated to precaution and with low probability of manipulation. The product (type and function) is to be chosen according to the installation and type of use. When selecting the product solution it is preferable to seek advice and assistance from trained personnel, for example from dormakaba authorised partners.

Special use
For special conditions may require special types and functions to ensure appropriate use. e.g. this could pertain to emergency exit doors, evacuation route technology, fire protection ... . Reference to approvals can be found in standards, certificates and technical documentation.

For humid and cold storage rooms, in direct weather, in maritime environments or in the environment of aggressive corrosive agents, lock cylinders must be specified in special design. The same applies for lock cylinders that are to be used in dusty environments. Where necessary protection rosettes are to be used against weather and dust.

‍Limitations:

Lock cylinders and keys form a closed unit and are clearly differentiated from other door components, such as lock, door hardware and doors.

There are 2 interfaces between a lock cylinder and a lock:

• mechanical attachment with a cylinder fastening screw (forend screw)
• the cam which is turned by key rotation and operates the lock latch and bolt.

Areas of Application:

In door locks, that are normally used in outside and inside doors in domestic, commercial, industrial and public buildings and institutions and which are arranged for the installation of lock cylinders.

Time limits

Product life: 100 000 cycles (15 years based on the average of 20 locking cycles daily)

Wear parts: none

Prerequisite for sustained guarantee of function during the product life is adherence to the instructions according to the installation and maintenance manual.

Maintenance

Lock cylinders/locking systems must be lubricated at least once annually - according to use also more frequently with the recommended lubrication and cleaning agent (cleaner) and tested for proper function. Principally lock cylinders must not be treated with sticking agents (e.g. oil). Only cleaning agents which contain no corrosive substances may be used.
