dormakaba and openDBL - Interview with Michele Allori

At dormakaba, we believe in embracing cutting-edge solutions that revolutionize the construction industry. Introducing the digital logbook - more than just an archive for data, it's the comprehensive history of a building, documenting every component installed and all changes in use.
Join us in listening to Michele Allori, 3D-Specialist at e-Metodi and member of the openDBL consortium, as he shares insights into the challenges and advantages of the digitalization process with new tools like openDBL.
Today's sustainable and durable buildings have multiple lives, constantly undergoing modernization and transformation. #Facility managers grapple with daily changes, seeking efficient solutions for optimized building operations.
With the openDBL digital logbook, clarity and factual informations are at your fingertips from the beginning.
What the digitalization of every really aspect of our Lives has permitted over the years it was to squeeze more steps into a smaller time frame.
Hi my name is Michelel Allori I come from Italy I'm from a company named e-Metodi.
The role of e-Metodi inside of the project is that of the main technical partner so we are to provide a architecture for the whole platform and a backhand and front end for the users.
Open DBL at the very core of it it's what it is it's an open Digital building logbook.
A platform online where you can just store whatever you want about your specific building. But then it would be just another repository online nothing special so what I envision for it you're not only having an archive you're also having a tool to make informed decision.
So instead of just collecting the information I can present it to you inside of the platform in a different way and at the same time it could be also a meeting point for the demand and offer of the whole industry.
So I imagine it to be something that speeds up any kind of communication.
The first time I heard about a DBL was about open DBL really.
I was talking with Andrea, Andrea is the founder of the e-Metodi and he described it to me something that would solve management issues and construction issues and everything in a single platform together - I was like this is so cool!
I mean being inside of the architecture world I know how chaotic it could be I know how every single step of not only the design process but really of all the building life cycle is compartmentalized in its own little box and this was a way for me in my head when it was presented to me was a way to create Lanes between these boxes.
And Andrea told me no it's not about creating roads between boxes it's about eliminating the boxes completely.
So that everyone knows what the others are doing because that's the only way that you can read it truly bring efficiency to the project.
