Product Summary
MTL 9291 is a battery-operated hybrid lock that communicates via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The lock can be opened via smartphone (operating system for Android/Apple).
All electronics are integrated in the lockcase and no visible units needs installing on the outside of the door leaf. The lock can also be operated mechanically with a lock cylinder and door handle.
Installation of accessories (cylinders, handles and turn knobs)
MTL 9291 should be installed with a door handle with a two-way return spring. To achieve lock classification 3 according to SSF 3522, MTL 9291 should be locked by key and installed with double, round safety cylinders classified according to SSD 3522, grade 3.
To achieve lock classification 2A according to SFF 3522, locking should be done by key or turn knob. The lock must be installed with a round safety cylinder on the outside, and a round, spring-loaded turn knob on the inside of the door. If the door handle doesn’t have return springs, use enclosed springs.
- Safety locking
The door is locked by key both from the inside and outside (SSF 3522, grade 3), alternatively with a spring-loaded turn knob on the inside of the door (SSF 3522, grade 2A). See cylinder, door handle and turn knob requirements above. - Locking by handle
The door handle can be lifted on the inside or outside to engage the hook bolt. This also disengages the door handle. - Unlocking
Unlocking can be done in two ways: 1. via smartphone (BLE) which activates the door handle. The hook bolt is pulled in when the door handle is turned. 2. the hook bolt is pulled in by using a key or the turn knob on the inside of the door. This activates the door handle and the door can be opened. - Automatic unlocking
The lock is unlocked when you approach the door after being away. This feature relies on geofencing where the lock and your smartphone start to communicate as soon as the phone enters the geographic communication area. The communication starts appr. 200 meters from the door. Unlocking occurs appr. 5 meters from the door. If the user doesn’t open the door, the lock is engaged again. Automatic unlocking is activated in the key app. - Automatic locking
After exiting and closing the door, MTL 9291 locks automatically by disengaging the door handle. This feature is activated in the administrator app.

dKey MTL 9192 hybrid lock
Hook bolt lock certified according to EN 14846. MTL 9291 meets the requirements to be used as a component in a lock unit for permanent installation, grade 3 in SSF 3522, ed 2.
Ref. report RISE 7P09381 EN 1634-1 (fire resistance). MTL 9291 have been tested in uninsulated single doors with steel profiles.

dKey Keypad
dKey Keypad is an external code lock that communicates with the MTL 9291 control board via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
- The wireless keypad can be placed 0-5 meters from the lock.
- The correct PIN code unlocks the lock. Entering an incorrect PIN code three times blocks the keypad temporarily.
- Administration of dKey Keypad is available through the dKey administrator app.
- Allows up to 3 unique PIN codes. Each code is 6 figures long.
- Backlit for easy use in the dark.
- Powered by two type AA 1,5 V batteries.
- Lithium batteries are recommended for longer lifetime.
- Placement 0-5 meters from the door, in clear sight.
- SSF 3523, grade S3 classification is achieved with dKey Keypad provided that double, round safety cylinders are installed.
dKey Smart Home button
dKey Smart Home button is an external, digital opening button that communicates with the control board of MTL 9291 via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
- Administration of dKey Smart Home button is available through the dKey administrator app.
- Powered by a single battery type CR2032, 3V
- Pushing the button can open the lock (SSF 3523, grade S2).
- Pushing the button can disengage the Open button (away mode) (SSF 3523, grade S3).
- If dKey Keypad is installed, it can be disengaged by pushing the button (night mode).
- Placement 0-5 meters from the lock, in clear sight
- For the highest security, combined away mode and night mode can be activated via the Smart Home button (SSF 3523, grade S3).
dKey Network Unit
dKey Network Unit is connected wirelessly to the Internet via local WiFi and communicates with the control board of MTL 9291 via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The Network Unit enables monitoring of operational status and controlling dormakaba dKey remotely, plus locking/unlocking, as well as managing keys and PIN codes.
The Network Unit also lets you control other dormakaba dKey accessories and their features, for instance activating or deactivating away mode and night mode
- Administration of dKey Network Unit is available through the dKey administrator app.
- USB-C cable for power supply is included.
- Placement 0-5 meters from the lock, in clear sight.
